Another postponement leaves Cardiff City facing major fixture congestion in the coming months
By: Martyn | February 6th, 2009
Tomorrow’s away game at Charlton Athletic has been postponed because of the weather. The old ‘fan safety’ chestnut was bungled into the statement that a club representative and the FA delivered with utmost seriousness. With Charlton rock-bottom, in dire form, and a enduring a paucity of healthy key players (Hudson, Semedo, Zheng Zhi), the boys in red were clearly dreading this encounter. Their luck and current state, compared to that of the awaiting and blood-thirsty opposition who have a fully fit squad (bar Whittingham) and seemingly unstoppable momentum, means that the cancellation of this game is obviously very convenient for one side involved. I’m sure however, it’s just a major coincidence and the idea that the Addicks applied heavy pressure to get this one snowed off a day early is very much preposterous! Cough, splutter.
Printing fixture-lists without the proper authority is a crime punishable by death apparently, so I’ll resort to providing a link. Here. Look at it, just bloody look at it! It’s 10 days ’til our next fixture, and that’s the bloody cup replay against the Gooners. I can’t be the only City fan supporting Arsenal in that game, can I? As absurd as it sounds, getting through to the next round of the cup is the last thing the team needs. After that dastardly replay is out of the way, there are more Championship fixtures awaiting us than there are days of the week. Or something. Jeez. Anyway, maybe Dave Jones can get a friendly match organised during the international break to keep those not involved with their nations (or grandparents nations) on their toes and competitively alive.
