Has the club missed a trick by delaying a release of this season’s new strip?

It is Premier League tradition for sides during the final game of whatever campaign they are concluding to model the kit they intend to dive, shout at the ref, and swagger around with an inflated sense of self-importance in for the season next up. Chelsea even wore their 08/09 strip in the Champions League final.
See, South Wales has an awfully big cachement area for young fans looking for a football team to latch on to and unsurprisingly, our profile has been raised by an appearance at Wembley in a major competition’s final.
Now I imagine a large amount of the aforementioned kids have birthdays in the summer months.
As it stands, teams such as Liverpool, Man. Utd and Chelsea have all already released their new shirts for the public to buy. We haven’t. So what kit are the young Tom’s, Dick’s and Harry’s likely to badger their parents for in anticipation of birthday morning: our old one from last season, or the one of a team that has ensured an extended shelf-life for their new shirt by bringing it out and swamping the market via an adept usage of foresight?
It ain’t rocket science, and I do believe a marketing trick has been missed.
